Build confidence, connection and everyday social skills

Group music therapy offers a safe, engaging space to connect with others through music while building capacity for real-world skills that support them in their everyday lives.

Explore music therapy in a group setting

Our groups are carefully designed and facilitated to meet the needs of their individual members.

We bring people together based on shared goals, needs, readiness and group dynamics.

Each group is guided by a Registered Music Therapist at our North Ryde clinic. We celebrate the uniqueness of every individual and what they bring to the group – be it musical ideas, curiosity, creativity or quiet presence.

Real goals, real
progress, together

  • Build confidence and communication through music.
  • Engage in social interaction in a safe therapeutic setting.
  • Strengthen emotional regulation skills.
  • Reduce isolation and foster connections.
  • Develop flexibility, cooperation and teamwork skills.
  • Grow skills that support participation in daily life.

Group therapy can be a next step after individual sessions or can run alongside them.

What group sessions
can look like

Every group is different shaped by who is in the room and what they need.

  • We sing, play instruments and create music together because shared music-making helps build connection, trust and a sense of belonging.
  • We encourage everyone to listen, respond musically and work as a team because building social and communication skills in a safe, supportive space helps grow confidence and connection.
  • We create space for each person to choose, lead, or contribute their own ideas because being part of the creative process builds self-esteem and a sense of ownership.
  • We tune into each person’s mood, energy and cues; and respond through music because music is a powerful way to explore and regulate emotions — especially when words are hard to find.
  • We use movement, rhythm games and playful songs to energise and focus the group because engaging the body and brain together supports attention, coordination and emotional regulation.
  • We celebrate the little wins — a smile, a new sound, a shared moment because every musical interaction is a chance for growth, connection and joy.

While outcomes may vary by person, these skills don’t just stay in the room. They often show up in daily life at school, at work, or out in the community.
